In addition to their first-round pick, 19th overall, the Flames own picks in the following rounds of the 2020 NHL Draft:
Second Round: 50th overall
Third Round: 72nd overall, 80th overall
Fourth Round:96th overall
Fifth Round: 143rd overall
Sixth Round:174th overall
With this in mind, CalgaryFlames.com's Torie Peterson has profiled 10 forwards who may be available outside of the first round of the draft and could end up being potential diamonds in the rough:

BrandonCoe2

Brandon Coe - RW - North Bay Battalion (OHL)

Height: 6'3 Weight:185 lbs. Birthplace:Toronto, Ontario
While their 17-win 2019-20 season is one the Battalion are happy to put behind them, an upside for draft-eligible winger Coe was that he was handed plenty of responsibility at both ends of the ice. The 6-foot-4 has an excellent base to develop around: a pro-sized frame, excellent skating for a player of his stature, a powerful shot and a nose for the net that allows him to generate quality chances in tight, and handles the puck well. Coe is more of a goal-scorer than a playmaker but thanks to his reach and ability to handle the puck and hold on to it in traffic, he has the potential to really develop that area of his game as well. The key for Coe will be putting all of this together to round out his game and play with more consistency.

CrossHanas

Cross Hanas - LW - Portland Winterhawks (WHL)

Height: 6'1 Weight: 165 lbs. Birthplace:Highland Village, Texas
Cross Hanas' offensive ceiling is extremely high. The Texas product is very creative, reads the play at a high level, is dynamic with the puck, and has a relentless pace to his style of play. When in the offensive zone, he can put defenders on their heels thanks to making smart, deceptive plays and his stick-handling skills. He excels at anticipating his opponents moves and reacts accordingly, setting up his teammates for scoring opportunities thanks to strong playmaking skills. At 6-foot-1, the winger has a frame to grow into and as he gets stronger, his offensive game will take another step.

JamesHardie2

James Hardie - LW - Mississauga Steelheads (OHL)

Height: 5'11 Weight:176 lbs. Birthplace:Innisfil, Ontario
Hardie's best attribute is his shot. The Innisfil, Ont., product not only puts a ton of power behind his blasts, he's got a wide range of high-accuracy shots in his toolbox. He gets his wrist shots off lightning fast, his backhanders are perfectly placed, and he has a heck of a slap shot. Thanks to that skill set, he led the Steelheads in scoring with 34 goals in the shortened 2019-20 season. His puck-handling skills are high-level and that allows him to be very creative in the offensive zone, complimenting his goal-scoring abilities with his playmaking skill set. In addition to this offensive upside, he's a strong skater who is agile on his edges and once he adds strength to his frame, his speed should be kicked up a notch, too.

Emil_Heineman_L

Emil Heineman - LW - Leksands IF J20 (SuperElit)

Height: 6'1 Weight: 185 lbs. Birthplace: Leksands, Sweden
Heineman has a well-developed all-around game. His offensive output took a big step in 2019-20, with 26 goals and 41 points in 29 games with the Leksands IF J20 squad, as he started to take more shots and hone his play on the forecheck. In his own zone, he supports his defenders well, is able to push the puck into transition quickly, and is willing to battle along the boards for the puck. At 6-foot-1, he has a decent-sized frame and has figured out how to use his strength to his advantage when it comes to fending off opponents and positioning.

VeetiMiettinen

Veeti Miettinen - RW - Kiekko-Espoo U20 (Jr. A SM-liiga)

Height: 5'9 Weight: 159 lbs. Birthplace: Espoo, Finland
With the 2019-20 Kiekko-Espoo U20 group, Miettinen led his club in scoring by 24 points, netting 42 goals and 73 points in 52 appearances. He's absolutely tenacious on the puck, fending off opponents when he has it on his stick and doggedly tracking it down and stealing when the other team has possession. That constant involvement in the play makes him an absolute pest to play against, with Miettinen driving the opposition up the wall. He's got plenty of speed to his game, allowing him to seperate from defenders quickly and open up space for his linemates. At 5-foot-9 and 161-lb., he'll need to add on muscle to take his game to the next level with St. Cloud State in the NCAA but he has some tremendous work ethic on and off the ice, which should make the transition easier.

ZionNybeck

Zion Nybeck - LW/RW - HV71 J20 (SuperElit)

Height: 5'8 Weight: 176 lbs. Birthplace: Alvesta, Sweden
At 5-foot-8, it's easy to see why Nybeck may be overlooked by some but the Swede has a ton of upside. His skating is excellent - he has a steady, quick first three strides, hits top speed quickly, and is very agile. When it comes to offence, Nybeck can act as a finisher or a playmaker because he's incredibly intelligent - he processes the game at a quicker pace than most of his peers and he has the puck skills to act on that vision. He's confident with the puck and is more than willing to take shots from anywhere in the offensive zone. His speed and tenacity could be a boon for a penalty-kill unit as well, with the winger zipping around on the cycle and ready to steal the puck at any second.

TristenRobins

Tristen Robins - RW - Saskatoon Blades (WHL)

Height:5'11 Weight:183 lbs. Birthplace:Brandon, Manitoba
Robins' offensive game exploded in 2019-20, with the Brandon, Man., native scoring 33 goals and 73 points in 62 games with the Blades. One of the reasons for this big step in development is the style of game plays. A heart-and-soul player, he leaves it all out on the ice every night and plays much bigger than his 5-foot-11 frame - he is constantly in the guts of the game, battling away against bigger and stronger opponents. He's also a very smart player and has figured out what he needs to do to excel, making creative and intelligent plays regularly. Given his commitment to developing his offensive skill set and adding strength, his ceiling as a pro is high.

CarterSavoie

Carter Savoie - LW - Sherwood Park Crusaders (AJHL)

Height: 5'10Weight: 181 lbs. Birthplace:St. Albert, Alberta
Playing in the AJHL and standing 5-foot-10, Savoie may have flown under the radar for the majority of the 2019-20 season but the Albertan has a ton of potential. The winger rattled off an eye-popping 53 goals and 99 points in 54 games with the Crusaders thanks to an incredible skill set that allows him to act as a goal scorer or playmaker. He owns an NHL-level shot, with accuracy and a quick release, and on-ice vision that is a step ahead of his AJHL peers. Committed to Denver University, he'll be tested against tougher competition but he should continue to be a consistent contributor.

LukasSvejkovsky2

Lukas Svejkovsky - C/RW - Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL)

Height:5'10 Weight:165 lbs. Birthplace:Point Roberts, Washington
There's plenty of upsides to forward Svejkovsky's game - he's a very adept puck handler who has the confidence and skills to make very creative plays. His skating is effortless in the sense he's able to get to top speed quickly, with smooth steps and agile edgework. His vision when he gets into the offensive zone is unique, with Svejkovsky finding creative passing lanes and getting into position to take shots from anywhere in the zone. For a smaller player at 5-foot-10 and 165-lbs., he's got more power behind his shot than you would expect. He took a step offensively after joining the Tigers mid-way through the 2019-20 season, scoring 13 goals and 28 points in 34 games in Medicine Hat. He started his year in Vancouver, posting 10 points in 18 games there.

OliverTarnstrom

Oliver Tärnström - C - AIK J20 (SuperElit)

Height: 6'1 Weight: 163 lbs.Birthplace: Stockholm, Sweden
Playing a strong two-way game, Tärnström is very much a north-south style of player. He reads the game at a high level, understanding the best positions to put himself in for he and his team to succeed. He's an incredibly hard worker, never giving up on a play or a puck battle, and will often out-compete his opponents. That battle level is advantageous in front of the net, with the Swede hacking away for rebounds and being able to score at will when in tight. Tärnström is a very poised player, rarely looking rattled or out of place and acts as a calming presence for his club no matter what the situation. In 2019-20, he dressed for 41 games with the AIK J20 squad, scoring 11 goals and 34 points, ranking him second in team scoring.
