CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames 2013 first round pick Emile Poirier and the Gatineau Olympiques' season has come to an end, falling in five games to the Halifax Mooseheads in the second round of the QMJHL playoffs.
Poirier picked up two points in the second round series, scoring a goal in Game Three and an assist in Game Four. He finished off the postseason with seven goals and 10 points in nine games.
The Flames prospect put together a career-year in 2013-14, scoring 43 goals and 87 points through 63 games. He was the Olympiques leading scorer in the regular season and led the scoring race with a 25-point cushion over second-place Martin Reway.
Poirier was clutch for the Olympiques special teams units, amassing six power play goals and eight short-handed markers. He also provided a gritty presence up front, collecting 129 PIM in the regular season.
Morgan Klimchuk, who the Flames selected with the 28th overall pick in 2013, was assigned to the Abbotsford Heat after his season in Regina came to a close. The Calgary, AB product has suited up for two games with the Heat since joining them.
