CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames 2013 first round draft pick Emile Poirier has been named the QMJHL's Third Star of the Week for February 3 to February 9, 2014.
In three games last week, the Gatineau Olympiques forward notched eight goals. He scored four against Sherbrooke on Wednesday, one against Cape Breton on Friday and registered a hat trick on Sunday in Gatineau's game against Rouyn-Noranda.
Sunday's three-game performance pushed Poirier to the 40-goal mark on the season. He is third amongst all QMJHL skaters in goals scored, trailing just Anthony Duclair and Anthony Mantha.
He has 74 points in 50 games this season, placing sixth in the QMJHL scoring race.
The Flames selected the Montreal, QC product 22nd overall in the 2013 NHL Draft.
