CALGARY, AB -- The Gatineau Olympiques are off to the QMJHL quarter-finals after sweeping the Cape Breton Eagles in the first round.
Calgary Flames 2013 first round pick Emile Poirier was one of the Olympiques' scoring leaders in the series, notching eight points in four games. The Montreal, QC native scored six goals - including a hat trick in Game 2 - in the series, which is tied for first amongst Gatineau skaters in the postseason.
Gatineau will face either Quebec or Rouyn-Noranda in the quarter-finals. Quebec currently has a 3-1 lead in the first round series.
Poirier led the Olympiques in scoring in the regular season with 87 points (43 goals, 44 points) in 63 games.
The Flames signed the forward to a three-year entry-level deal on Dec. 31, 2013.
