It's official.
The Flames are back in the playoffs.
On Sunday evening, the Minnesota Wild dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the New York Islanders, clinching a postseason spot for the Flames.
Calgary is the first Western Conference team to solidify a playoff spot. The only other club to lock up a postseason position is the Tampa Bay Lightning, who lead the Eastern Conference.
The Flames currently sit first in the Western Conference with a 44-21-7 record and 95 points. With 10 games remaining in the regular season, Calgary has six home contests and four road games: the club has a 23-7-5 record at the Scotiabank Saddledome and a 21-14-2 record on the road.
The team is back in action on Tuesday when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7:00 p.m. MT.
