Player Spotlight: Five minutes with Philippe Sauve

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

Throughout the 2005-06 regular season will sit down one-on-one with players and have a little fun while finding out a little more about the player on a personal side.

Playing backup goalie to star netminder Miikka Kiprusoff is no easy task, but 25-year old Philippe Sauve is doing just fine. In recent games, Sauve has put on a stellar performance in front of fans, recording three wins and two losses.

Prior to his time with the Flames, Sauve played for the Mississippi Sea Wolves during this past year's lockout, recording a 13-4-4 record with two shutouts and a 2.59 GAA.

Philippe Sauve's Bio

Here's our question and answer with Sauve.

Pick one word to describe yourself?

Sauve: Honest.

If you weren't a hockey player, what would you be doing?

Sauve: I really enjoy golf, so I'd try a crack at that, so being a golfer I guess.

It's a Saturday night and you're not playing hockey. What would you be doing?

Sauve: Probably dinner and a movie.

What's your favourite food?

Sauve: I enjoy a good steak.

What's your favourite Calgary Restaurant?

Sauve: I haven't been out much, I can't really answer that yet. I'll say Caesars.

Who is your favourite band right now?

Sauve: AC/DC or something like that.

What is your favourite television show?

Sauve: 24.

What was the first car you owned?

Sauve: It was a '91 Hyundai Scoupe

Which pro athlete would you most like to spend time with?

Sauve: Muhammad Ali.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Sauve: Italy. I don't know why, but it looks pretty nice.

You have a few hours to kill. Do you read a book or play a video game?

Sauve: Actually my roommate Steven Reinprecht just got me going on reading, so now I guess it would be reading. I'm reading the Da Vinci Code right now.

Playstation or X-Box?

Sauve: I have both, but I'd say X-Box because it's a little bit faster.

Worst job you've ever had?

Sauve: I didn't really have any to tell you the truth.
