CALGARY, AB – Once again this year, Calgary Flames defenceman, Dion Phaneuf will participate in the annual Radio-thon at the Alberta Children’s Hospital on Wednesday November 5.
Phaneuf, who is the Flames official player ambassador for the hospital, will spend an hour on the phones at the hospital taking and making phone calls to raise money for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation from 2-3 p.m.
This will be the second Radio-thon that Phaneuf participates in, helping to raise over $1.6 Million for the Alberta Children's Hospital last year.
As the Alberta Children’s Hospital ambassador Phanuef leads the Flames wheelchair hockey game against the Townsend Tigers School at the hospital, as well as a special visit that takes place during Christmas with the entire Flames team.
Phaneuf also donates four tickets to every Flames home game for children and family staying at the hospital and takes part in the Candy Cane Gala, the hospital’s Christmas fundraising event, with the contribution of a unique prize which includes a post game Flames locker room visit.
The Radio-thon will be taking place from November 5 to 7 at the Alberta Children’s Hospital between 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day.
Phaneuf will be inviting Calgarians to hear stories of healing and miracles, hope and inspiration and make a donation directly to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
