Nystrom- Prust- Mayers
The newest Flames arrived at the Pengrowth Saddledome this morning and picked up their jerseys and met their new linemates..
Defenceman, Ian White will wear No. 3, Niklas Hagman will wear No. 11, Matt Stajan
will wear No. 18 and Jamal Mayers will wear No. 19.
"It was good to get out there," said Stajan following the morning skate. "It was a little different wearing red but it was good to get out there because there are some nerves and things, which is only natural."
And, with four new players in the dressing room, there was obviously some line juggling.
Head coach Brent Sutter said the Flames will start the night with the lines from the morning skate but that they could change through the game.
Of particular interest was the placing of Stajan, a play-making centre, on the top line with Jarome Iginla
and Dustin Boyd.
"I'm excited. I think it is a great opportunity. I have to play my game, work hard and get him the puck," said Stajan.
With Dion Phaneuf leaving the Flames blueline ranks in the blockbuster deal that brought the four Maple Leafs west on Sunday, Ian White steps in with Robyn Regehr as a new defence pairing.
"We'll go out there and try and shut down some top players," said White. "Any position, any role they want to put me in, I'll be happy to do it."
"They are excited about being here and we are excited about having them," said Sutter.
Added White: "It's tough, you are losing some friends but you are making that many more."
