News Release: Flames acquire Toskala

Calgary, AB – Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today the acquisition of goaltender Vesa Toskala from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Curtis McElhinney.

Toskala has played in 260 career NHL games with 127 wins, 13 shutouts, a 2.77 goals against average and a .902% save percentage. He spent the first part of the 2009-10 with the Toronto Maple Leafs before heading to the Anaheim Ducks in a trade on January 31st.
A native of Tampere, Finland, Toskala is a former teammate of Miikka Kiprusoff’s as the two shared goaltending duties with the San Jose Sharks from 2000-2003.
