by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames
Calgary, AB – The Flames Ambassadors are proud to announce the sixth annual celebrity roast; The Lanny McDonald Roast Presented by ATB Financial raised over $225,000 for three charities; The Flames Foundation for Life, Soldier On Fund and Special Olympics.

The March 9th event was attended by over 475 people at the Westin Hotel and included celebrity roasters Ron Maclean, Colin Patterson, Jamie Macoun, Perry Berezan, Bearcat Murray and emcee Jim Peplinski.  Thanks to all event sponsors including ATB Financial, Joan Snyder and Calgary Flames alumni.

Through this event the Calgary Flames and Flames Ambassadors recognized the impact of Lanny McDonald in the Calgary community in benefit of three worthy causes. The Flames Foundation for Life is the charitable arm of the Calgary Flames which directs funds to education, medical research, amateur sport and recreation. Special Olympics, a charity Lanny McDonald serves as an honourary chair, provides funds to sport training and competition for people with mental disabilities while Soldier On Fund contributes to optimizing the functional independence of ill or injured Canadian Forces personnel, or former personnel, by delivering programs and services.

Flames Ambassador Celebrity Roasts have now raised over $840,000 for various charities. The sixth annual roast follows Flames Ambassador Roasts for Ken King, Harley Hotchkiss, Doc and BJ Seaman, Darryl Sutter and Jim Peplinski.

Once again, a fantastic event with special thanks to the sponsors, the Westin Hotel, Flames Ambassadors and alumni as well as the several celebrities and volunteers that made it a great fundraising event in its sixth year.
