ABBOTSFORD, BC -- The American Hockey League (AHL) announced today that Abbotsford Heat forward Krys Kolanos has been selected as the winner of the reGen® Muscle Recovery Beverage/AHL Performance of the Month award for March.

On March 25, after the Heat fell behind 3-0 in a critical Western Conference showdown against San Antonio, Kolanos recorded a hat trick and tied an AHL season high with five points to lead the Heat to a 6-5 comeback victory.

Kolanos’ miraculous return to the NHL was completed when he was signed and called up by the Flames on February 1st. The 30-year-old returned to the NHL after two-and-a-half years recovering from microfracture hip surgery.

Kolanos is an offensive leader with the Heat having collected 54 points (26-28-54) in just 44 games played. He is eighth in the league having fired 226 shots on net so far this season and is tied for the lead in the AHL with nine first goals scored.

For his role in his team’s victory after his own impressive recovery, the Calgary, AB native will be honored with the reGen®/AHL Performance of the Month award at an upcoming game.

reGen® is the Official Recovery Beverage of the AHL.
