VANCOUVER, BC -- Glen Gulutzan has confirmed goaltender Chad Johnson will get the start this evening when the Calgary Flames take on the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena at 8:00 PM MT (CBC, FAN 960).
The Flames have been in three different cities over the past four days, making it an ideal scenario to get Johnson into his first regular season game with the team.
"Three (games) in four nights. It's a pretty easy (decision)," Gulutzan said. "It was always really on our schedule. It's a good chance for him to get in."
Johnson signed with the Flames as a free agent this past summer, coming off a tremendous year with the Buffalo Sabres. In 2015-16, he went 22-16-4 with a 2.36 GAA and .920 save percentage.
He has impressed the coaching staff throughout training camp and they are eager to see him in regular season action.

"He's been a real worker in the practices we've had and all through the pre-season," Gulutzan noted. "I thought in Winnipeg -- he played a full game there -- he was solid. I thought he made some big saves for us.
"We got him this summer, we're very happy for that for a reason. When we're playing three games in four nights, that's why we wanted to have another real good goalie with us."
