The Calgary Inferno may have plenty of new faces on their roster this year but they have continued to be a dominating force in the CWHL, losing just one game in regulation at the mid-way mark of the season.
With the 2017-18 campaign acting as centralization year for Hockey Canada in preparation for the 2018 Winter Olympics, the Inferno lost Geneviève Lacasse (G), Brigette Lacquette (D), Meaghan Mikkelson (D), Bailey Bram (F), Haley Irwin (F), Brianne Jenner (F), Rebecca Johnston (F), Jillian Saulnier (F), and Blayre Turnbull (F).
And while their performance may have surprised some, they are confident in their depth and skill.
"This season has gone really well so far, up until last weekend, we hadn't lost in regulation," said Inferno forward Brittany Esposito. "We're pretty high up in the standings right now, it's pretty close at the top. I think we're surprising a lot of people this year because we had a lot of turnover and a lot of new players come in, but our depth is really showing this year."
