IIHF World Championship Update: 09.05.13

CALGARY, AB -- TJ Brodie and Canada collected a 3-0 win over Sweden on Thursday morning to give them a 3-0-1 record at the 2013 IIHF World Hockey Championships.

Steven Stamkos, Luke Schenn and Jordan Staal scored for Canada while Mike Smith made 33 saves in the victory. Brodie had 11:03 of ice time and threw two shots on net.

Canada plays Belarus on Friday.

Jiri Hudler and the Czech Republic edged Denmark 2-1 in a shootout. Hudler was held pointless in regulation and overtime but scored for the Czechs in the shootout. He logged 18:05 of ice time.

The Czech Republic's next game goes Friday against Slovenia.

Joni Ortio and Finland were not in action on Thursday and will face Russia on Friday. On Saturday, Chris Butler and the USA will play France while Reto Berra and Switzerland will square off with Denmark.
