- The Flames went 1-0-1 against the Washington Capitals in 2013-14; Calgary fell 5-4 in a shootout on Oct. 3, 2013 in Washington and defeated the Caps 5-2 in Calgary on Oct. 26, 2013.

- Karri Ramo played in both games against Capitals, recording a 2.88 GAA and a .912 save percentage. He made 62 saves on 68 shots.

- Amongst current Flames, Jiri Hudler led Calgary skaters in scoring against the Caps last year. He posted two goals in a pair of games. Kris Russell was second in scoring in the season series with one goal and two points in two outings while Mark Giordano, Sean Monahan, and Dennis Wideman collected two assists in two games.

- Calgary leads the league in blocked shots with 159 through nine games. Russell leads all Flames, and is second in the NHL, with 27.

- Joe Colborne's eight assists on the year is tied for tops in the NHL with John Tavares, Ryan Getzlaf, and Scott Hartnell.

- The Flames are third in the NHL in takeaways with 52.

- Mason Raymond and TJ Brodie have each amassed seven points on the road this season, tied for tops in the NHL. Raymond has five goals and two assists in other barns while Brodie has three goals and four helpers.

- Raymond's five road goals leads all NHL skaters.

- Jonas Hiller collected his 22nd career shutout on Thursday, making 16 saves in a 5-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

- Hudler picked up his 300th career point on Thursday with an assist on a goal from Monahan.

- With a pair of goals in Thursday's victory over Carolina, Monahan registered his fifth career multi-point game.

- As of Friday morning, the Flames are fifth in the NHL with a 5-3-1 record and 11 points.
