Hitmen's Bean top WHL skater in NHL Central Scouting final rankings

CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Hitmen defenceman Jake Bean is the top-ranked Western Hockey League skater in the NHL Central Scouting final rankings for the 2016 NHL Draft.

Sitting 15th overall among North American skaters, the Calgary, AB product set a franchise record this year in goals by a blueliner, netting 24, and ended up third in team scoring in the regular season with 64 points through 68 games.

In the postseason, he had two assists in five games against the Red Deer Rebels.

Hitmen left winger Carsen Twarynski (64), center Jordan Stallard (65), left winger Beck Malenstyn (73), and left winger Jakob Stukel (82) also landed on the final set of rankings.

Calgary's Cody Porter sits 20th in the NHL Central Scouting's final rankings of North American goaltenders.

Pierre-Luc Dubois, who plays for Cape Breton in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, tops this year's North American skaters rankings. In 62 regular season games, the Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, QC native scored 42 goals and registered 99 points.

London Knights' forward Matthew Tkachuk and Mississauga Steelheads winger Alexander Nylander round out the top three North American skaters.

Auston Matthews remains the top international skater. The Phoenix, AZ product spent the 2015-16 campaign in Switzerland, racking up 24 goals and 46 points in 36 games with Zurich.

Finnish forwards Patrik Laine and Jesse Puljujarvi sit second and third, respectively, among international skaters.

Lulea's Filip Gustavsson is the top-ranked international goaltender while Sherbrooke's Evan Fitzpatrick is the number one ranked North American netminder.
