Hitmen take 2-0 series lead over Oil Kings

CALGARY - Carson McMillan scored eight minutes into overtime to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings in Western Hockey League playoff action Sunday afternoon.

McMillan tipped Paul Postma's point shot past Edmonton goalie Torrie Jung, who finished the game with 54 saves, including nine in overtime.

With the win, the Hitmen took a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarter-final series against the Oil Kings, who will host the next three games in Edmonton on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

After a scoreless first period, Shayne Neigum scored on an Edmonton power play in the second to put the Oil Kings up 1-0.

Calgary's Kris Foucault then converted a feed from Kyle Bortis at 15:42 of the third period to force overtime.

Hitmen goalie Martin Jones stopped 24 of 25 shots he faced.
