Hiller, Flames look to snap skid against Stars

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

STARS (12-13-5) at FLAMES (17-14-2)

Season series: The Dallas Stars went 2-0-1 against the Calgary Flames last season, outscoring Calgary 15-7 in the process. Tyler Seguin had four goals and two assists in the three games, with all four goals coming during a 7-3 win on Nov. 14, 2013, in which Dallas matched a season-high in goals.

Stars team scope: Goaltender Kari Lehtonen made 27 saves for the shutout Wednesday as Dallas picked up a 2-0 victory against the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena. The Stars have won three of their past four games, allowing four goals against in the three wins, and five against in the lone loss. Seguin, who was held without a goal Wednesday, has only been goalless in two of six games this month, and six of his past 12 overall. The game also snapped a four-game point streak for Seguin, who recorded seven points over that stretch. Lehtonen was the first goalie off the ice at practice on Thursday.

Flames team scope: Goaltender Karri Ramo allowed four goals on the 13 shots he faced Tuesday and was chased from the crease as the New York Rangers defeated the Flames 5-2. Calgary allowed a goal in all three situations -- one on the power play, one shorthanded and three at even strength -- as the Flames dropped their sixth consecutive game. "We've got to keep pushing and find a way," forward Sean Monahan said after the team skated Thursday, according to the Flames' Twitter. Coach Bob Hartley confirmed Jonas Hiller, who relieved Ramo on Tuesday, will get the start in goal Friday. Ramo didn't skate Thursday because of an illness, but Hartley said he expects Ramo back Friday.
