SAN ANTONIO, TX -- The Abbotsford Heat beat the San Antonio Rampage (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers) 3-0 on Friday night at AT&T Center. The Heat remain in second place in the West Division with a 42-25-5-3 record and 92 points.
Max Reinhart’s three-point game and Doug Carr’s 27-save shutout performance was difference for the Heat in their seventh win over the Rampage this season. Reinhart picked up his 61st point on the campaign, putting him in a tie with Krys Kolanos for the all-time franchise record for most points in a single season.
It was a milestone game for two rookies in Carr and Emile Poirier. Carr not only picked up his first career AHL win, but first shutout as well, while Poirier scored his first AHL goal in his first career game.
Zach Davies opened the scoring at 3:07 for the Heat, on the power play, assisted by Reinhart and Brett Kulak. At 14:43, Poirier scored to make it 2-0 Heat, with the assists going to Reinhart and Ben Street. The Heat were able to kill off all three Rampage power plays in the first period.
In the second period, both goaltenders shut the door, with Carr making 10 saves and Clemmensen stopping all nine Abbotsford put his way.
Reinhart was the lone goal scorer in the third period as he scored his 21st goal of the season at the 12:00 mark, assisted by Ben Hanowski and Corban Knight.
The Heat went one out of three on the power play, and killed off all five penalties on the evening.
Carr picked up his first win and shutout of the season making all 27 saves, while Rampage goaltender Clemmensen was charged the loss stopping 19 of 22 shots.
