Heat shut out by Wolves on Sunday

by Torie Peterson / Calgary Flames

CALGARY, AB -- Goaltender Aaron Dell put forth a strong effort in his first AHL start but the Abbotsford Heat couldn't muster any offence on Sunday, falling 2-0 to the Chicago Wolves.

Evan Oberg and Airdrie's Ty Rattie were able to beat Dell, in the first and third periods respectively, while Wolves netminder Jake Allen collected the shutout.

Dell, who was signed earlier in the week after Joni Ortio was recalled by the Flames, made 19 saves on 21 shots in his first full AHL game. Prior to signing with the Heat, the Airdie product played for the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL where he amassed a 14-6-2 record.

The Heat head back home to prepare for their weekend set against the Grand Rapids Griffins, which take place on Friday and Saturday. They currently sit in first place in the Western Conference with a 33-17-5 record and 71 points.
