Heat recall Ortio from Alaska

ABBOTSFORD, BC -- Abbotsford Heat General Manager Jay Feaster announced today that goaltender Laurent Brossoit has been assigned to the Alaska Aces, the Heat’s developmental affiliate in the ECHL, and goaltender Joni Ortio has been recalled from Alaska.

Brossoit has played two games this season in Abbotsford posting a 0-1-1-1 record, a .824 save percentage and a 5.72 GAA.

BORN: Surrey, BC DATE: March 23rd, 1993

HEIGHT: 6’3” WEIGHT: 202 lbs.

DRAFTED: 2011, 6th round 164 overall

Ortio has played in four games this season in Alaska posting a 3-1-0-0 record, a .944 save percentage and a 1.01 GAA. He will join the Heat on the upcoming road trip.

JONI ORTIO – GOALTENDER

BORN: Turku, Finland DATE: April 16th, 1991

HEIGHT: 6’1” WEIGHT: 185 lbs.

DRAFTED: 2009, 6th round 171 overall

The Heat will head out on the road this week to face the Utica Comets (AHL affiliate of Vancouver Canucks) and Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens). The Heat will then return home for games against the San Antonio Rampage (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers) on November 5th and 6th and the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs) on November 9th and 10th.
