Heat edged by Bulldogs on Friday night

ABBOTSFORD, BC -- The Abbotsford Heat fell 2-1 to the Hamilton Bulldogs in the first game of a two-game set this weekend.

Bulldogs netminder Dustin Tokarski was named the game's first star, allowing just one goal on 29 shots. Abbotsford netminder Joni Ortio allowed two goals on 22 shots.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 7:13 of the first period with the goal coming off of Justin Courtnall's stick. Hamilton extended their lead in the second stanza when Christian Thomas' shot evaded Ortio at 10:02.

Sven Baertschi pulled his team within a single marker in the third frame, tapping in a pass from defenceman Mark Cundari. Heat newcomer Adrian Foster, who skated on a line with Baertschi and Markus Granlund, earned his first point in Abbotsford silks with a secondary assist.

The two teams will close out the two-game set on Saturday night.
