CALGARY, AB -- No need to panic.
The departure of Dougie Hamilton from Calgary Flames practice Tuesday was all about maintenance.
"He left early today," coach Glen Gulutzan said. "I know everyone was talking about the days that we were dealing with things in there that were internal to us … little nagging injuries and stuff with all the games we've played. I think it's 31 in 64 days.
"We were dealing with some stuff that we had to try to get rid off, and he went off for maintenance."
Hamilton himself confirmed his status well after his coach did.
"I'm fine," he said. "Just nothing really to it."
Fine would serve as an understatement for Hamilton's play of late.
The defenceman had two goals and an assist in Calgary's 6-2 win against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. The productive outing gives Hamilton four goals, five points and a plus-7 rating in his past four games.
Overall, he has six goals and 17 points in 31 games this season.
"He's been great," said captain Mark Giordano, Hamilton's partner of late. "He's been easy to play with. I don't know how to explain it. He's jumping in and making plays and shooting the puck well right now. It's been fun to play with him.
"It's been fun to watch him jump in and make plays and create like he has been."
