Dylan Dunville was given a ticket.
Then he got shown the money. All, really, by accident.
Dunville is an 18-year-old Mount Royal University student who works part-time as an usher during events at the Scotiabank Saddledome. On January 19, Dylan was working his section when Flames fan Denis Dressler decided to leave the game early.
Much to Dylan's surprise, Denis gave him his 50/50 ticket and told him they would share the winnings if it was the lucky ticket.
The young usher would never have guessed that, in fact, he was holding the winning ticket to over $27,000.
The following game, Denis Dressler, President of Victory Vinyls, approached Dylan and jokingly asked if they had won.
When Dylan told him the good news, Denis didn't believe it.
"Dylan is such a soft spoken person, I really didn't believe him. It took about five minutes for him to convince me," said Dressler.
When asked if he was going to honor his promise, the long time season ticket holder responded: "Absolutely!"
"When I asked Dylan if he was going to buy himself a new car and he answered that he wanted to pursue his education, there was no doubt this was the right thing to do." Dressler added.
"The Flames personnel, from the ushe, to the concession staff, to security, are just amazing and perform their duties with such integrity. Dylan is a perfect example of that."
