“Having a home is something we can take for granted,” Giordano said at the launch of a campaign called "5 for 5".
“This campaign will not only affect people here at home in Canada but also internationally.”
The program was created in an effort to address the issue of affordable housing – both locally and internationally. Giordano and his wife, Lauren, will help provide the funding and awareness for the “5 for 5” campaign for the construction of five homes. Four will be built in the developing countries of Ethiopia, Kenya, India and the Philippines.
The fifth home is part of a five-plex that is currently being built on Sibbald Street in Cochrane, Alberta. The family who will be purchasing the home this Spring is well known in the community as active volunteers.
The family has faced many challenges and has found ways to turn these challenges into triumphs. This is a hard working family who gives back to their community and is just one of many who deserve a safe and decent affordable home.
“Both Lauren and Mark have expressed an interest in supporting the Habitat program locally and trying to make a difference internationally,” said President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity Calgary, Leslie Tamagi.
“The Giordano’s believe that it is equally important to support projects in the local community as well as families who are struggling in third world countries.”
“My wife and I feel that it is a great project to be a part of,” said Giordano.
“It feels great helping locally and internationally. I got involved talking with my agent (Rich Winter). He actually brought the idea up and I thought it was a great idea.”
As an ambassador and the face of the campaign Giordano will appear in print materials, commercials at events and fundraisers along with his wife Lauren who has been volunteering with Habitat for Humanity for quite some time now.
The Giordano’s hope that this campaign will help brighten the lives of a few deserving families while creating awareness around their local community.
