CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames prospect Johnny Gaudreau has been named Hockey East's Warrior Player of the Month for January.
The Boston College junior recorded an incredible 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) in just eight games in January. He registered multiple points in five of those eight games and recorded a career-high five assists on Jan. 18 in a game against Maine.
The 20-year-old leads the nation in scoring with 23 goals and 51 points through 26 games played this season. His 1.96 points-per-game average is also tops in the NCAA. He is currently riding a 21-game point streak, which began on Nov. 1. Boston College is 16-0-1 when Gaudreau scores a goal and 19-3-3 when he notches a point.
Gaudreau is a 2014 Hobey Baker candidate. He was in the 2013 Hobey Baker Hat Trick thanks to his 51 point 2012-13 campaign.
The Flames selected Gaudreau in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Draft.
