The Anaheim Ducks and the Calgary Flames will play their second of four meetings this season. The Ducks last paid a visit to the Dome on December 10th, when Corey Perry picked up the game winning shootout goal to defeat the Flames 3-2.
The Ducks have centre Ryan Getzlaf back in the lineup as of last Thursday after missing over a month due to sinus fractures.
Francois Beauchemin is also expected to be available to the Ducks after being reacquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday.
"They're all pretty skilled guys, they all play hard and play well down low, especially behind the net," said Mark Giordano.
"If you can take away those behind the net plays, it can help but they're skilled guys and top guys in the league so they are who they are."
Perry is close to hitting 30 goals this season. He is a dangerous player to play against especially with his sniper of a shot from the point. Is there a way to defend against a guy like this?
"You have to be prepared to battle," said Giordano. "He battles hard and gets to the net. The guy has really good hands and really good finish. With him it's more like a mindset- to be prepared to battle."
Flames forward Alex Tanguay, who has missed one game with a neck strain, was on the ice with the team for the morning skate. He did not, however, take part in line rushes.
He will not be in the lineup tonight and continues to be day-to-day.
Steve Staios will have the opportunity to get back in the lineup tonight after not dressing in the last three games. He will play on the left side paired with Anton Babchuk.
"I wanted to get Stevey [Steve Staios] back in," said head coach Brent Sutter. "I think his experience at this point can help us. He's been out for awhile. We're going to need everybody and Stevy can bring some intangible things to us that we can use. He's played in these big games before and he's played well in those games so I thought we'd throw him back in tonight and see how he does."
Miikka Kiprusoff will get the start between the pipes for the Flames.
