Friesen sidelined with hip injury

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

Calgary Flames forward Jeff Friesen will be sidelined for three to four days to heal an injured hip he sustained in Saturday's 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

Following the game, things got worse for Friesen as he battled a flu which kept him off the ice for three days, including Tuesday's game against the Dallas Stars.

Flames coach Jim Playfair could not specify on the injury because he didn't know the extent of it, but said that Friesen's status is day-to-day.

The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, native signed a one-year contract with the Flames as an unrestricted free agent in July after splitting last season between Washington and Anaheim.

In 13 games this season, Friesen has one assist.
