The Calgary Flames jersey is about to take evolutionary step. when the National Hockey League team will unveil a new look jersey on Sept. 4, 2007.
The Flames will join the 29 other NHL clubs in wearing the new RBK Edge uniforms beginning with the 2007-08 season.
Last January, the NHL and Reebok announced a partnership that has created the new technologically-advanced uniform system, which was worn by the Western and Eastern Conference All-Star Teams at last year's game in Dallas.
Since that time there has been plenty of speculation, plenty of talk and plenty of renderings of the potential 2007-08 Flames jersey floating around on the Internet.
Some of the designs might be close, notes Calgary Flames president and CEO Ken King, but none have got it perfect.
That secret is being kept under the tightest of wraps until the official launch on September 4.
"Nobody has it nailed from what I've seen," King said in an interview with the Calgary Herald
So, just what can be expected in the new design?
"There are some visibly noticeable differences with the new jerseys," says Kevin Lawton, FanAttic director of retail. "But the overall look will be similar to the ones we have now."
Lawton isn't going beyond that -- other than to say the C of Red is a big part of the Flames identity -- so fans will have to wait for the "visibly noticeable differences" until Sept. 4.
