Flames sign Markus Granlund

CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames Hockey Club announced today that they have signed centre Markus Granlund from HIFK Helsinki to an entry-level contract.

Markus Granlund, a native of Oulu, Finland, was the Calgary Flames 2nd round pick (45th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and is in his third season with the HIFK Helsinki. He finished the regular season second in team scoring with 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points and 18 penalty minutes in 50 games.

Granlund tied for the lead on the Finnish team in scoring at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championships. His five goals and seven assists for 12 points in six games also tied him for second in tournament scoring.

Contract terms: Three year entry-level contract with a base salary of $650,000 (2013-14); $675,000 (2014-15); and, $700,000 (2015-16), with an AAV of $925,000 (including entry-level performance bonuses).
