FLAMES SIGN FORWARD J.D. WATT

Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today the signing of prospect forward J.D. Watt. As per club policy, terms and conditions of the deal were not disclosed.

Watt is playing in his 4th season with the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League. He is currently 1st on his team in goals (18) and 2nd in penalty minutes (107).

The native of Calgary, Alberta, helped lead his team to a WHL Championship in 2006 and plays on the host team for the 2007 Memorial Cup Championship.

In 163 career WHL games, the 6’2”, 203 lbs winger has recorded 33 goals and 48 assists for 81 points, and 519 penalty minutes. Watt was the Flames 4th round selection, 111th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
