Feb. 4, 2007 at the Pengrowth Saddledome
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames are pleased to announce a charity fundraising salute to Lethbridge and surrounding area.
Since the Calgary Flames came into the NHL over 25 years ago, the Flames have had a very loyal and supportive fan base in Lethbridge and throughout southern Alberta.
Southern Albertans will join the Calgary Flames on Saturday, February 17th as they host divisional rival Colorado Avalanche at the Pengrowth Saddledome for their salute.
“We have always had tremendous fan support from Lethbridge and southwest Alberta. We thought this would be a great way to support their minor hockey programs and local charities and help them fundraise, and at the same time, give them the opportunity to experience the excitement of a Flames home game,” stated Vice President of Sales, Rollie Cyr.
Over a thousand tickets have been provided by both the Calgary Flames and local businesses to Lethbridge minor hockey teams and local charities. The minor hockey teams and local charities in southern Alberta are then reselling the Flames tickets to fundraise for their organizations. All ticket sales will benefit the community and is estimated to exceed $75,000.
All funds raised through this ticketing initiative will go towards local minor hockey team expenses including uniforms, equipment and travel, as well as local charities. When you purchase a Calgary Flames ticket from one of these charities or a minor hockey team in southern Alberta, you’re actually giving back to your community and helping to keep the game alive for hundreds of young hockey players.
The Calgary Flames would like to recognize the businesses for making this program possible: Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club, Cox Insurance, D.A. Electric, Dunlop Sterling Western Star Truck Centre, Hi-Way Service, Kirks Tire, McDonald’s Restaurants, The Players Bench, Pizza Hut, Summit Motors, TCA Marketing, and Calgary Flames ambassador Pat Shimbashi.
