The Calgary Flames have recalled goaltender Brent Krahn from the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, the club's top affiliate in the American Hockey League.
Krahn will join the Flames in time for game six of their playoff series with the Detroit Red Wings tonight at 8:00 p.m. CT.
In another move, the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights’ have added goaltender Leland Irving.
Krahn appeared in 28 games for the Knights this season, posting a record of 14-12-0 with a 2.42 goals-against average, a .905 save percentage and two shutouts. In 141 career AHL appearances, the native of Winnipeg, Manitoba has posted a record of 65-53-12, a 2.57 goals-against average and eleven shutouts.
Irving joins the Knights following the conclusion of his junior season with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League. He appeared in 48 games during the regular season, posting a record of 34-9-1-2, a 1.86 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage. The goals-against mark ranked second in the WHL while the save percentage was tops in the league. He also earned a WHL-best eleven shutouts for the Silvertips who finished with the league’s best record at 54-15-1-2.
Irving is a native of Barrhead, Alberta. The 6-foot, 176 lbs. netminder was drafted by Calgary in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
The Knights travel to Des Moines, Iowa for games 3 and 4 of their Calder Cup Playoff series with the Iowa Stars. The series is tied at one win apiece. Game three is Monday, April 23rd, and game four will be played on Wednesday, April 25th.
