CALGARY -Hockey Calgary is proud to announce the 3rd Annual Hockey Calgary Leadership Day 2019 in partnership with the Calgary Flames and the Calgary Hitmen.
This one-day workshop will bring together close to 1,000 minor hockey players from all member associations with an emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship, respect and fun. An interactive captain panel and informative breakout sessions with knowledgeable representatives from professional sports will also provide a unique perspective on what it means to be a leader both on and off the ice.
This year's event will feature an interactive Obstacle Course led by the Canadian Armed Forces - 3rd Canadian Division, presentations from Tommy Wheeldon JR. of the Cavalry FC, motivational speaker Leo Barbe and Bill Peters of the Calgary Flames. This event is designed for players who aspire to be leaders and role models not only on their minor hockey team but in the community as well.

Kevin Kobelka, Hockey Calgary's Executive Director states, "This year's event will continue to build on the success of the last 2 seasons. We are appreciative of our strong partnership with the Calgary Flames and Hitmen, without their continued support we could not offer these value added events that focus on the life long social skills that you develop from being part of a team sport, we believe it is our responsibility to be more than just a hockey program to our young athletes. We have an exciting line up of speakers once again this season including Tommy Wheeldon Jr, of the very successful Calgary Cavalry FC and we are also happy to have the Canadian Armed Forces - 3rd Canadian Division back again to provide another perspective on teamwork. The goal of this event is to develop lifelong leaders who will give back to the community for years to come."
The Calgary Flames Foundation, Calgary Flames and Calgary Hitmen have provided funding to support hosting this event in the community.
"We believe in the power of sport and the life lessons it provides," said Candice Goudie, Executive Director of Charitable Foundations for the Calgary Sport and Entertainment Corporation. "This is a day that speaks to how powerful sport and hockey can be in a young person's life. On behalf of the Flames and Hitmen, we are proud to be partnered in that goal, we will continue to advocate for it and create and fund programming that provides access to sport and hockey."
