CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames are pleased to announce their prospects will be taking on the University of Calgary Dino’s Men’s hockey team at Father David Bauer Arena on Friday, September 16th at 7:30 PM.
This will be the first opportunity to see the Flames prospects play in Calgary and will conclude the end of Rookie Camp as the Flames Main Training Camp will start on Saturday, September 17th at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
“The Flames organization is proud of the relationship we enjoy with the University of Calgary in general, and we are very pleased specifically to be able to support the Dinos’ hockey team through this game,” said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “As two proud and vibrant members of the Calgary community, our mutual hope is the event will help raise the profile of an excellent hockey program at the U of C while also showcasing incredibly talented players on both squads.”
“It’s a huge step for us to gain credibility in the community and allow the people of Calgary to understand the calibre of our team, our players, and our league,” said third-year U of Calgary bench boss Mark Howell, who was named the Canadian Interuniversity Sport coach of the year in 2010-11. “The Calgary Flames are an integral part of this community, and we’re thankful they agreed that this is a beneficial for us as well as them. It’s a partnership we hope to continue to foster and build for the future.”
Tickets are available on-line at www.goDINOS.com and limited tickets will also be available at the door with the box office at Father David Bauer opening at 6:00 pm prior to the game Friday. Prices will be $12 for adults, $8 youth/seniors and children six and under are free.
University of Calgary Student Tickets will be limited to 300 tickets and will be available at no cost on a first come, first-served basis beginning Tuesday, September 6th at the Kinesiology Client Services desk. Students must show Student ID card, and are limited to one ticket per student.
Representatives from the Calgary Flames Foundation will also be on hand to present the captains of the Men’s and Women’s hockey teams with a cheque for $20,000.00. In keeping with its tradition of supporting Amateur and Grassroots Sports in our community, the Calgary Flames Foundation contributes $20,000.00 annually to each of the three post-secondary hockey teams.
This annual contribution is in addition to the creation of the Harley Hotchkiss Scholarship, an financial support program developed two years ago by the Calgary Flames Foundation and the Calgary Flames Hockey Club in honor of former club owner, Harley Hotchkiss.
