Calgary, AB - The Calgary Flames Ambassadors’ are happy to announce the 2nd annual Texas Hold’Em Tournament held Wednesday, January 31st raised more than $300,000 for the Flames Foundation for Life.

Calgary Flames players, coaches and alumni competed against 320 other poker players who bought-in at $600 a-piece to play against their hockey heroes and the chance to win more than $25,000 in prizes.

The overall winner of the tournament was Kelly Kellner, President & CEO of Heads Up Entertainment. Second place went to Chris Skelton of Bennett Jones LLP. Flames right winger, Darren McCarty ended the night in third place and Flames alumnus Dana Murzyn finished 4th.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Rotary / Flames House. The Flames Foundation for Life and the Rotary Club have teamed up to donate $2.5 Million to help build Alberta’s first hospice and respite care facility for children. Rotary / Flames House will help hundreds of families needing specialized help for their very sick and terminally ill children.

Once again, a fantastic event with special thanks to the sponsors, the Deerfoot Inn and Casino and its staff, all Flames players and coaches as well as the several celebrities that braved the elements of the day and made it a fantastic fund raising event in its second year.
