CALGARY, AB -- Unrestricted free agent forward Brad Winchester is set to go camping in Calgary.
Winchester has been invited to participate in training camp on a professional tryout with the Calgary Flames, the club announced Saturday.
Winchester spent last season with the San Jose Sharks, recording six goals and 10 points and amassed 88 penalty minutes in 67 games. The six-foot-five, 230-pound forward made the Sharks after attending training camp on a try-out basis. He joins Steve Begin and Steve McCarthy as the only players coming into Calgary’s camp on a professional try-out basis.
Originally selected in the 2nd round, 35th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Winchester has also played for the Dallas Stars, St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks.
A veteran of 390 National Hockey League games, the 31-year-old has 37 goals and 68 points along with 552 penalty minutes in his career.
