Flames host Blues on Tuesday

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

BLUES (1-1-0) at FLAMES (1-1-0)

Season series: The St. Louis Blues were one of few teams to handle the Calgary Flames last season, winning all three games and outscoring them 12-2. David Backes and Paul Stastny each had five points; Backes had two goals and three assists, Stastny had a goal and four assists.

Blues team scope: The Blues confirmed Monday that rookie forward Robby Fabbri is sidelined indefinitely after sustaining a concussion. Fabbri, who did not travel with the team on the Canadian swing of a season-long six-game trip, was elbowed in the head of a 3-2 loss at the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, according to coach Ken Hitchcock, who called Fabbri "day-to-day." His last shift occurred with 5:41 remaining in the first period. Either Scott Gomez or Scottie Upshall will take Fabbri's place in the lineup against the Flames. ... Goalie Brian Elliott, who made 23 saves in a season-opening 3-1 win against the Edmonton Oilers last Thursday, will start.

Flames team scope: The Flames' top line of Johnny Gaudreau, Jiri Hudler and Sean Monahan has picked up the first two games where it left off last season. The three have combined for nine points in two games against the Vancouver Canucks to start this season. Gaudreau and Hudler combined for five points in a 3-2 overtime victory at Vancouver on Saturday. Gaudreau scored the game-winner. ... Goalie Jonas Hiller, who made 28 saves in the victory Saturday, is the projected starter.
