made a special visit to a Special Olympics floor hockey practice to present the organization with an early Christmas gift on behalf of the Calgary Flames and NHLPA Goals and Dreams Fund.
Over $93,000 was donated to Special Olympics Calgary from the two organizations from the last two years of Danone SuperSkills events.
Glencross spent the evening participating in the Special Olympics practice.
“It’s great to get out and see the positive effects sport have on the athletes,” said Glencross after the workout. “The participants have a lot of fun and I enjoyed being a part of it.”
Glencross is the official player ambassador for Special Olympics and has also donated his winnings from his Molson Cup runner up award for the month of November to Special Olympics.
Special Olympics Calgary’s mission is to enrich the lives of individuals with an intellectual disability through sport.
The Calgary organization offers 32 individual programs in 17 sports year round to athletes of all ages and abilities. Funds directed to Special Olympics are directed to funding programs for their athletes.
