The Calgary Flames Foundation and WorleyParsonsCord are excited to announce the 2017 launch of the Flames@School program. The Flames@School program will engage youth with fun and educational Flames-filled content, both at school and at home. This program aims to emphasize the importance of health and wellness, and use hockey content to develop and foster youth interest in education.

This program is a curriculum-based resource drawing on the exciting history of the Calgary Flames. The program is available online for both parents and teachers at

. The curriculum encourages students and youth to get active and make healthy decisions through content created by education advisors featuring Calgary Flames players, themes and input.
"WorleyParsonsCord are excited to continue our history of working with the Calgary Flames to support the community we live and work in, this year with the Flames@School program. Giving back to the community is a core value of WorleyParsonsCord and we believe the Flames@School program which supports kids with resources to ensure they are living an active and healthy lifestyle is a great initiative. We are honoured and grateful to be involved." said Brad Van de Veen, WorleyParsonsCord President.
With the 2017 launch comes some exciting new content for students to get active and learn along the way. This year's program will include "a walk across Canada" where students will work together with their classmates to accumulate steps, learning about geography, history and players hometowns along the way. In addition, this year students will have the opportunity to track physical activity at home and learn about different activities the Flames like to participate in to stay active when they are not playing hockey.
"When this program was created the goal was to motivate, educate and inspire young people using the Calgary Flames brand, players and alumni," said executive director of the Calgary Flames Foundation, Candice Goudie. "The online content is diverse. From exercise cards featuring Flames players to their favourite healthy foods, leadership assignments and traditional subject content with a Flames theme."
When the ownership group brought the Flames to Calgary in 1980 their mandate, which is still prominent today, was to ensure that the Calgary Flames have a positive impact on the quality of life in southern Alberta. Since its inception the Foundation, with the support of partners and donors, has raised millions for education, health and wellness, and amateur and grassroots sports. Every season, the Calgary Flames Foundation raises over $4 million in support of these three key areas.
