Flames could see familiar faces in Rocky Mountain clash

After capping a three-in-three with a 3-0 loss to the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Friday, the Calgary Flames will play their fourth game in five nights at Pepsi Center against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Flames have gone 2-3-0 through the first five games on pre-season action, with victories coming by way of a 1-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers at Scotiabank Saddledome and a 4-3 overtime victory against the Arizona Coyotes at 2014 Kraft Hockeyville in Sylvan Lake, AB.

Colorado has gone winless through four pre-season games, dropping both ends of a split-squad set with the Anaheim Ducks, as well as a pair of games against the Montreal Canadiens.

Calgary is expected to ice a youthful lineup against the Avalanche featuring the likes of Johnny Gaudreau, Sven Baertschi and Patrick Sieloff. Colorado, meanwhile, could have a trio of former Flames in the lineup with Reto Berra, Alex Tanguay and longtime captain Jarome Iginla on the roster.

The puck drops at 6 p.m. MST and will be broadcast on SN 960 (radio).

Earlier Saturday, the Flames assigned forwards Trevor Gillies, Ben Hanowski, Mathieu Tousignant, Bryce Van Brabant, Ken Agostino, Garnet Hathaway, David Wolf, defensemen Curtis Gedig and Dustin Stevenson and goaltenders Doug Carr and Brad Thiessen to the Adirondack Flames of the American Hockey League.
