Flames bring McLennan back to Calgary

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames
Calgary Flames General Manager and Head Coach Darryl Sutter announced the signing of goaltender Jamie McLennan.

As per club policy, terms and conditions of the deal were not disclosed.

The signing marks the return of the popular back-up goalie known in the dressing room as Noodles.

McLennan played the 2005-06 season with the Florida Panthers appearing in 17 games posting a record of 2-4-0 with a 3.01 GAA and a 90.6 save percentage.

"This is all good. For me Calgary is a place I never left in my heart. It's nice to come back, especially since the team is on the verge of doing something special. I want to be a part of that," said McLennan.

The Alberta native has posted a 77-104-33 record with 13 shut-outs and a 2.64 GAA in 245 NHL career games with the Flames, New York Islanders, St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and Florida.

He played in Calgary during the 2003-04 season but was traded to the New York Rangers in the deal that brought Chris Simon to the Flames. McLennan filled in admirably when Calgary's two other goalies, Miikka Kiprusoff and Roman Turek, were hurt in early January. In fact, he won several games with a broken clavicle bone that season.

The 35 year-old goaltender was drafted in the third round, 48th overall, in the 1991 Entry Draft by the New York Islanders.
