Flames assign Shane O'Brien to Abbotsford

CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames announced today that they have assigned defenceman Shane O’Brien to the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

O’Brien, a native of Port Hope, Ontario, has played 528 career games with Colorado, Nashville, Vancouver, Tampa, Anaheim and Calgary. This season with the Flames, in 45 games he has recorded 3 assists and 58 penalty minutes.

HEIGHT: 6’3” WEIGHT: 230 lbs.


DRAFTED: ANA – 8th round, 250th overall, in the 2003 NHL Draft

HOW ACQUIRED: Traded along with David Jones from Colorado in exchange for Alex Tanguay and Cory Sarich on June 27, 2013
