Flames aim to take down Avs in second straight game

by Torie Peterson / Calgary Flames

CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames will look to complete a pre-season sweep over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night.

On the back of Michael Ferland's two-goal performance, the Flames downed the Avalanche 2-1 on Sunday in Denver.

"You know what’s impressive about a young player like Ferly?" head coach Bob Hartley said afterwards. "Now we’re getting closer and closer to NHL hockey. You don’t want to have a separation and Ferly was a force."

Ferland, who missed a substantial chunk of the 2013-14 season with a knee injury, came into training camp in excellent shape and has been turning heads since the 2014 Young Stars Classic in Penticton, BC earlier this month.

"I just want to keep my feet moving, keep playing good, and keep having fun," Ferland said.

"Obviously they're letting guys go and I just want to keep playing hard. Stick around as long as I can."

The puck drops at 7:00 PM MT with Sportsnet 960 The FAN broadcasting the game. Watch CalgaryFlames.com for post-game highlights and coverage.
