On Jan. 18, 1958, Willie O'Ree took to the ice with the Boston Bruins and became the first black player to skate in the National Hockey League. With the NHL "celebrating equality," Mr. O'Ree and his lifetime of contributions that transcend on-ice accomplishments tonight, we're honoured and privileged to welcome longtime pro, NHL veteran and proud Calgarian Claude Vilgrain to the program to continue the discussion on diversity, dig deep into his own experiences with racism, and celebrate the efforts of so many in our community that promote inclusiveness in the game of hockey.
