CALGARY, AB – The Calgary Flames will conduct their final practice of training camp on Saturday, January 19th at WinSport Arena ‘B’.
While thousands of Flames fans attended training camp sessions this past week at the Scotiabank Saddledome, the Flames are advising fans that the final practice session at WinSport Arena ‘B’ provides very limited seating capacity (approximately 300). Arena ‘A’ is currently configured for international competition. As well, with other events and activities taking place at WinSport and Canada Olympic Park, traffic and parking will be extremely busy.
“There was such a fun and energetic atmosphere at the Scotiabank Saddledome all week and we are so thankful to our fans for coming out to support us as we prepared for the opening of the season this Sunday,” said Flames Head Coach Bob Hartley. “Our final practice will be a simulated game day skate (30-40 minutes) and we will not scrimmage. Due to the limited capacity, we don’t want our fans to be disappointed by not being able to access a potentially congested arena. We hope you enjoyed this past week as much as we did and we look forward to seeing you at the Dome when the season begins.”
The Scotiabank Saddledome will be hosting the Calgary Roughnecks versus the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday, January 19th causing the Flames to seek ice-time at another facility. As well, it is a busy hockey weekend in Calgary as Esso Minor Hockey Week wraps up.
The Flames home opener is set for Sunday, January 20th versus the San Jose Sharks (4:00pm MST) with game two on Monday, January 21st with the Anaheim Ducks (7:00pm MST).
