Tonight's tilt is the first of a two-game season series between the Flames and Dallas Stars this year. Last season, the Flames went 2-1-0 against Dallas, picking up one of those wins at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Flames have a few connections to the Stars: Glen Gulutzan's first head coaching gig in the NHL came in Dallas, Mike Smith was drafted by the Stars in the fifth round of the 2001 NHL Draft and Jaromir Jagr scored 14 goals and 26 points in the 34 games he played for the Dallas in 2012-13.
HOME SWEET 'DOME
The Flames kick off their season-long seven-game homestand tonight. Calgary will host Dallas, Washington, Pittsburgh, New Jersey, Vancouver, Detroit, and St. Louis over the next couple of weeks.
The Flames will be without Jagr (soft tissue) this evening. Stars' defenceman Stephen Johns is currently sidelined with an upper body injury.
