Notes ahead of tonight's Flames vs. Stars game

FACING THE STARS

In their last 10 games against the Dallas Stars, the Calgary Flames are 4-5-1 and have won three of their last four meetings. In the Stars last 10 visits to the Scotiabank Saddledome, the Flames hold a 5-3-2 record. Last year, the Stars made just one trip to Calgary and the Flames won that game 4-3 in a shootout.

The Flames have two players on their roster that have played for the Stars. Forward Alex Chiasson was drafted by Dallas in the second round of the 2009 NHL Draft and played 86 regular season games for the club. He scored 19 goals and 42 points during his time in Dallas. Defenceman Jyrki Jokipakka was also drafted by the Stars, in the seventh round in 2011, and played 91 regular season games with the team. He posted two goals and 16 points as a member of the Stars.

Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan spent time in Dallas as their head coach during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. The 45-year-old had a 64-57-9 record during his time behind the Stars bench. Gulutzan was also the head coach of Dallas' American Hockey League affiliate, the Texas Stars, during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 campaigns.

Mark Giordano is averaging 25:00 of ice time per game, leading all Flames. That average ranks 11th among all NHL skaters. TJ Brodie sits second in that category with a 23:40 average. Johnny Gaudreau, at 19:16, leads all Flames forwards in average ice time per game.
