FACING THE PREDS
Tonight is the first of three games between the Calgary Flames and Nashville Predators this year. The two teams will meet again on Feb. 21 and Mar. 23 in Nashville. Johnny Gaudreau led all skaters in last year's season series, which saw the Flames go 2-1-0, with five points in three skates.
In their last 10 home games against the Predators, the Flames are 7-3-0. The two teams have traded wins in their last four meetings at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Micheal Ferland played his first NHL game in Nashville on Oct. 31, 2014 and also scored his first NHL goal against the Predators, with that milestone dating back to Mar. 29, 2015.
Chad Johnson posted his first NHL shutout against the Predators while he was a member of Boston Bruins. That shutout came on Jan. 28, 2013.
Dennis Wideman picked up his first NHL assist against Nashville on Nov. 12, 2005. He was a member of the St. Louis Blues at the time.
Mikael Backlund scored twice in a 13-second span in Calgary's 5-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. As per Elias Sports Bureau, that is the quickest pair of goals scored in the NHL this season. Backlund's pair of tallies were the quickest two goals scored by a Flames player since Johnny Gaudreau scored a pair against Nashville on Mar. 9, 2016.

Chad Johnson and Brian Elliott have combined to hold opponents to two-or-less goals in eight of the last nine games. During that stretch, the Flames have a 1.89 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
