CLASH WITH THE 'CANES
This afternoon's tilt is the second and final match-up between the Flames and Carolina Hurricanes this year. The Hurricanes picked up a 4-2 win in the first contest. Troy Brouwer and Johnny Gaudreau found the back of the net and Brian Elliott made 28 saves in the loss.
In their last 10 games against Carolina, the Flames have a 6-3-1 record but have dropped three of the last four skates. Prior to that, the Flames had won four in a row against the Hurricanes.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS VS. CAROLINA
Chad Johnson has a 7-1-0 record against the Hurricanes in his NHL career and has posted a 2.11 GAA and .930 save percentage in those eight games.
Sean Monahan set a career-high with four points (one goal, three assists) in the Flames' 4-1 win over Carolina in February 2016.

FINISHING THE JOB
Friday night's 4-2 win over the Florida Panthers was 23rd straight time that the Flames have won a game when holding the lead after two periods of play. Only Pittsburgh, at a perfect 25-0-0 when leading after 40 minutes, has a better winning percentage than Calgary's .958% (23-0-1) when ahead going into the third stanza.
WRAPPING UP THE ROAD TRIP
Today's matinee is the fifth and final game of this road trip for Calgary. The Flames are 3-0-1 in the first four games of this trip and are 6-1-1 in their last eight skates away from the Scotiabank Saddledome. Over those eight games, Mikael Backlund and Gaudreau have led the way with 10 points each.
This road trip also featured three road wins in four nights - a feat the team hasn't accomplished since March of 2015 when they downed the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings over a four-day spread. Those three games were the first played after Mark Giordano suffered a season-ending injury.
3M LINE ROLLING
Over the past five games, the line of Backlund, Matthew Tkachuk and Michael Frolik have combined for six goals and 17 points.
MILESTONES WITHIN REACH
Sean Monahan needs 1 game for 300, 2 assists for 100 and 2 points for 200.
TJ Brodie needs 2 games for 400.
